Guagliardo, Joseph Reina (J.R.), 89, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, May 14th. He was born to Italian (Sicilian) immigrant parents on October 27, 1927 in Tampa, Florida. He attended Gary Elementary, Franklin Junior High, and graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1946. In his senior year, he met the love of his life, Marian Glorioso, and they married on August 9th, 1948. After graduation, he attended the University of Tampa and joined the family business, Florida Dairy, Inc., now Sunny Florida Dairy, Inc. Guagliardo, Joseph Reina (J.R.), 89, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, May 14th. He was born to Italian (Sicilian) immigrant parents on October 27, 1927 in Tampa, Florida. He attended Gary Elementary, Franklin Junior High, and graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1946. In his senior year, he met the love of his life, Marian Glorioso, and they married on August 9th, 1948. After graduation, he attended the University of Tampa and joined the family business, Florida Dairy, Inc., now Sunny Florida Dairy, Inc. His career covered farming, processing, and distribution of dairy products, serving many capacities, eventually as President. He was a member of the Italian Club of Tampa, Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and Ybor City Rotary Club. As a Rotarian, he was a Paul Harris Fellow Plus and was honored to be an Ybor City Rotarian for 68 years. He was a past member of Davis Islands Yacht Club, Krewe of Sant'Yago, Krewe of Venus, Sons of Italy, and several other social organizations. J.R. was also associated with the Dad's Clubs of Academy of the Holy Names, Jesuit High School, and Plant High School. A caring, giving, and loving son, brother, husband, dad, Nanno, Nonno-Nonno, and friend, J.R. enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dad loved the many hours spent at his "little piece of heaven,” J and M Hideaway, in Homosassa Springs, FL and summers at his Indian Rocks Beach condo with his children and their families. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 68 years, Marian, his parents, Salvatore and Maria Guagliardo; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Samuel and Lily Glorioso; and grandson, Jeffery Bryan Gay. He is survived by his daughters, Lynda (Tom Mariani) Carson and Elaine (Joe) Belt; sons, Salvatore (Cathy) Guagliardo and Joseph (Jo-Ann) Guagliardo; grandchildren, Townsend (Sofia) Belt, Marian (Steve) von Gontard, Laurenleigh (David) DePristo, Marissa (Tommy) Sander, Joseph (Kara) Guagliardo Jr., Salvatore Guagliardo Jr., Olivia Gay, and Anthony (Clarisa) Guagliardo; great-grandchildren, Delonni, David Jr, Damon and Dylan DePristo, Machir von Gontard, Emilia Belt and Thomas Joseph Sander; his sister, Vivian Palori. The family thanks his caretaker, Julia Salinas, for the care she gave Dad during his illness. A visitation will be held Monday, May 22, 5-8pm, with a prayer service at 7pm, at Blount & Curry, 605 S. MacDill Ave. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 23, at 10am, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 509 N. Florida Ave., with interment to follow at Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
